Projection lamps: Can’t live in need ’em, can’t shoot ’em. Until late, that's .
Projection lamps are slow to turn next to and off, hot, oft explosive, and have a nasty habit of getting rheostat next to age, while their color balance deteriorates. If you’re fussy about your video—and if you’re reading this review you should be—the 2,000-hour helpful lifetime that’s usually specified (to half brightness) for projection lamps will likely be closer to 1,000 work time whether less. Next to a replacement averaging around $400, that’s about $0.40 per time unit of use, not including the bottom band on your electric bill.

My projector is no longer under warranty. It is an Epson Powerlite 73c and the oil lamp went out on it. I haven't purchased a replacement oil lamp yet and need to know whether it is as easy as opening up the projector and swapping it retired or am I going to need to take it somewhere for them to act upon it? As well, wherever can I take it for repairs? Huntsville, Alabama
